2024 Palm Springs Winter Holiday Banner Art Program
Students! Teachers! Families!
Yes! We are doing holiday banners this year!
This is the 32nd year of our wonderful community art project sponsored by Main Street Palm Springs, the business association of Downtown and Uptown Palm Springs, and the City of Palm Springs. Each year 50 new original art banners are added to past years banners displayed along Palm Canyon Drive, to proudly show off the creativity of students and schools throughout Palm Springs area during the winter holiday season.
Once again, this year, we will accept the banner designs like usual, but will have the banners printed rather than hand painted.
This Award-Winning project (California Downtown Association Judges’ Choice Award) showcasing original art that fosters community pride and helps develop the relationship between the schools, families, residents and Downtown and Uptown businesses.
We plan to have a panel of judges and also online voting on Facebook for People’s Choice Awards.

2024 THEME: Winter Holidays - Palm Springs Vibe
PURPOSE: To develop a sense of community and pride between schools, families, and downtown businesses
WHO: Kindergarten through 12th grade Palm Springs area students
UPDATED DATES and DEADLINES:
A.S.A.P. - Design your Winter Holiday Banner design on paper.
Wed. Oct. 23 - Schools submit designs for judging.
Fri. Oct 25. - Student designs are judged.
Mon. Oct. 28 - Designs are prepped for printer.
Mon. Nov. 4 - Designs delivered to printer.
Mon. Nov. 18 - Banners installed on light posts.
Fri. Dec 6 4PM - Awards ceremony at Francis Stevens Park
PROGRAM RULES:
* Students design their banners on white paper approximately 4”
wide by 11” high.
* Regular white paper folded in half vertically works fine. Designs
must be vertical to fit banner.
* Use any method; magic markers, crayons, paint, colored pencils, etc.
* Bold designs work best for banners.
* Banner Design Entry must have student’s first and last name, teacher, school, and
grade legibly written on back. Designs without this info may be disqualified.
* All artwork must be original. No computer generated designs, coloring
* Judges will select 50 banners to be printed and displayed.
* All designs are subject to approval of judges.
* Prize Categories include: Most Palm Springs, Best Downtown Palm Springs,
Best Palm Springs Landmark, Best Palm Springs Flora and Fauna, Most Original,
Most Humorous, Best Santa, Best Winter Holiday, Best Angel, Peace on Earth
* Banner designs should combine the winter holidays and Palm Springs themes.
* Completed banners will hang on Palm Canyon drive for more than one season if
banner remains in acceptable condition. (Some banners become worn from sun, weather.)
